Each state has passed consumer protection laws which mirror
or strengthen Federal consumer protection laws. These state laws are considered
mini-FTC Acts because they prohibit unfair and deceptive acts and practices. Whereas
enforcement for violating the FTC Act is limited to the Federal Government, these
state laws allow consumers to enforce violations in civil court.
